Rihanna Fans Are Sure 'Love The Way You Lie' Is About Chris Brown

Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," featuring Rihanna, puts emotional candor — in both the video and the song — front and center. Given the very public abusive relationships Rihanna and Em have gone through, many fans believe the artists drew from personal experience for the collaboration.
Concertgoers waiting for the singer's Last Girl on Earth Tour stop in New York City on Thursday (August 12) told MTV News that the "Umbrella" singer's tumultuous past with ex-beau Chris Brown informed her performance in "Lie."

"I would say it's like the Chris Brown situation, just because they go from hating each other then loving each other then back to hating each other and all this stuff,"
Stephanie Gutez observed about the "Lie" video, which features Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as a feuding couple. "That's how Rihanna and Chris Brown pretty much are."

Video director Joseph Kahn has insisted that while relationship abuse is an issue that Em and Rihanna have dealt with, the video isn't about either star's past. Although Rihanna doesn't mention any of her ex-loves by name in the song, Nicole Hollins is convinced the singer has Brown in mind.

"She's just talking about ... hurt, but she loves the way he's hurting her. In that relationship ... she was abused by him," Hollins said. "So it's little hints in the song that [sound] like it's referring to Chris Brown. I think it is. I don't care what anyone says."

Cassidy Santos said the video has a cautionary message, warning people about what happens when love goes too far.

"I thought it was interesting how [Rihanna] and Eminem compared the way their lives were," Santos said. "Since what happened with Chris Brown, it showed that people shouldn't do that to women."

Rebecca Snoddy said "Lie" keeps it real about the difficulties that any couple, famous or otherwise, must contend with.

"I think it depicted [the relationship] in a way that's honest and truthful like any other relationship would be," Snoddy said.

Rihanna Defends Tattoo

Rihanna has defended her ‘Rebelle Fleur’ tattoo after claims it’s the wrong French spelling and grammar.

According to reports she sent the artist behind the body art a message telling her what to say to the press.

It’s claimed Ri wrote: ‘Rebelle fleur translates to rebel flower, NOT rebelious flower, its 2 nouns so in that case fleur does not HAVE to be first! Fyi, cuz they will ask.”
Luckily for the Te Amo singer whatever the words really means they can be removed after three months.

The star had the tat’ inked temporarily while she decides whether to have it made permanent.

It’s only the latest tattoo that Rihanna’s paid for. She’s got drawings all over her body including one behind each ear and a music note on her ankle.

Last week she also revealed a piercing in a rather, er, intimate place!

Eminem & Rihanna Take On B.o.B For UK Number One

B.o.B is competing with Eminem to claim the Official Singles Chart number one this weekend.
Em’s duet with Rihanna Love The Way You Lie is currently a few thousand copies behind B.o.B’s own duet with Paramore’s Hayley Williams Airplanes.

Mark Ronson’s Bang Bang Bang and Professor Green and Lily Allen’s Just Be Good To Green look set to hit the Top 10.

Love the Way You Lie has not yet got a music video but is also already number two on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Slim Shady does however look certain to recapture the album chart top spot with Recovery, after headlining T In The Park Festival last week.New albums from M.I.A and Bombay Bicycle Club look set to crash the Top 20 while Eliza Doolittle will score a Top five hit with her self-titled debut.

The Show Goes on for Pink

Superstar singer Pink took what appeared to be a serious fall at a concert in Nuremberg, Germany, according to People magazine. Pink was attached to a harness that would have allowed her to go airborne during a song but instead ending up crashing into a steel barrier that keeps fans off of the stage. You can see footage of the incident on the People website.
The singer Tweeted that she's fine and will be on stage for her next performance although she is "seriously sore." Her European Funhouse Summer Carnival tour wraps in Norway on July 25th.Two other notable music acts have taken some serious spills this year and both women kept on performing. Alicia Keys sang at the Essence Awards in New Orleans in early July. In the midst of singing "Love in Blind" she stumbled backwards onstage as you can see on this footage on the CBS News website. While nearly not as drastic as Pink's high velocity fall, perhaps the fact that Keys is pregnant should give her caution that she should take some time off to take care of Junior.

Rihanna is another recent case of spills. The website Black Voices reports that she hurt her ribs in April while in Switzerland. A few days after that she slipped while onstage in France. Then again on May 10th in London Rihanna fell down a flight of stairs while performing "Te Amo."

Rihanna is tough and apparently can't stop showing off that she can recover from a fall. Ever since her highly publicized incident with Chris Brown in early 2009, Rihanna has always been shown as a fighter who won't take anything from anyone including injuring herself. Since that awful time with Brown she's become one of the hottest acts. Rihanna will continue to tour through the summer culminating in an appearance on ABC's Good Morning America on August 20th as part of their summer concert series.

Neither of these talented young ladies should be falling on stage for publicity's sake. Keys' recent announcement that she's pregnant and engaged should spur enough off-stage publicity for her. Rihanna has had six number one singles on Billboard's Hot 100 and will surely have many more.

Rihanna brings soulful voice, tough edge to 'Dome'

Rihanna and Ke$ha performed Tuesday at Pengrowth Saddledome. Attendance 12,000.

A bleeding heart on the big screen, being squeezed in a clenched fist with painted black nails, talon-like. That was but one image flashed Tuesday night at Saddledome as Barbadian R&B sensation Rihanna sang her opening song Russian Roulette on an elevated platform. It was the first of many dramatic, angry images seen throughout her concert.

During the aggressive, electronic R&B of Hard a troupe of backup dancers sported glowing pink rifles. At the song's conclusion Rihanna straddled a similarly coloured canon.

For the pounding pop of Shut Up and Drive she climbed up on the wreckage of a car while a guy dressed as a crash test dummy breakdanced in the background. For the tune's finale other dancers took baseball bats to the vehicle.

This was a darker and altogether tougher Rihanna than the pop sexpot in pretty dresses who we've come to know over the years.

The sexy factor was still present to be sure. During Rude Boy, Rihanna was dressed in a black S&M style getup that accentuated every curve. The difference is, the 22-year-old's image has taken on a real edge.

Of course, the radical shift has occurred in the last year following Rihanna's violent, highly publicized breakup with her former boyfriend, R&B star Chris Brown. Brown was charged with assault after an altercation between the two on the eve of the 2009 Grammys.

Rihanna's latest album, Rated R, reflects her harsh new reality and the same is true of her Last Girl On Earth Tour.

It has to be said though that behind all the theatrics, Rihanna's soulful voice stood up as a formidable weapon in its own right at the 'Dome. That was particularly clear at press time during the ballad heavy section of her set.
